The Dingy Skipper, Erynnis tages
There is one main brood per year emerging in May and June, with the possibility of a second brood in August. The Butterfly over-winters as a
larva in a nest on its food plant. Food plants include Birds Foot Trefoil and Horseshoe Vetch.
There is a colony on The Devil's Dyke on Newmarket Heath opposite to the July Course stands and I have also seen a few individuals on the golf course
section near tee No. 15. In both cases on the steep south-facing banks.
